Monique Lynette Garcia passed away Wednesday May 1, 2002. She is preceded in death by her aunts, Beatriz Martinez and Consuelo Resendez.

Monique Lynette Terrell Garcia was born March 12, 1973 in Alice, Texas to Tina Valdez Terrell and Michael Glenn Terrell. She was a 1991 graduate of Alice High School where she was a cheerleader for 5 years and was active in the school band. She received her Bachelors of Arts Degree from Texas A & M Corpus Christi and was currently working on her Bachelors in Education Degree. Monique was a Teacher at Coastal Bend Youth City in Driscoll, Texas. She has always worked to help others, her previous employment positions were as Counselor at the Glossbrenner Correction Facility in San Diego, Texas and as a Counselor at the Bay Area Rehabilitation Center.

She is survived by her husband, Reuben Todd Garcia; one daughter, Victoria Cathleen Garcia of Alice, Texas and one stepson, Shawn Dalton Garcia of San Antonio, Texas; her mother, Tina (Woody) Hernandez of Alice, Texas; father, Michael Glenn (Janie) Terrell of Mathis, Texas; two sisters, Yvette (Albert) Johnson of Calallen, Texas and Michelle Terrell of College Station, Texas; parents-in-law, Ruben M. Garcia and Francisca N. Garcia of Alice, Texas and brother-in-law, Jason Garcia; four nephews, Justin Johnson of Calallen, Texas, Brian Bradley of College Station, Texas, Tyler Dudycha of College Station, Texas and Joshua Johnson of Charleston, S.C.; one niece, Brittany Johnson of Calallen, Texas and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins from the Valdez and Terrell families.

Monique's most precious gift was her 2 year old daughter, Victoria Cathleen whom she cherished and loved with all her heart.

Rosary was recited May 3, 2002 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Funeral Mass was celebrated May 4, 2002 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment followed at New Colliins Cemetery.
