John was the son of Jacob Benton Quick III & Sarah "Sally" Capps. He married his first cousin, Lucinda Ann Quick ( daughter of William "David" Aaron Quick and Rachel Counts) Aug. 8, 1858 in Osage Co.,MO and together they had 12 children; Amanda Quick, Jane Quick, Missouri Ann Quick Walker, Susan Quick Mitchell, Cora Mary Quick Bloomer, twins- John "Amos" Quick and Aaron R. Quick, Mildred "Louella" Quick Gage, Fred Quick, Rev. James Floyd Quick, Everett Quick and an infant son who died at birth. John was of slight build, quite sickly and had epilepsy. His wife always took very good care of him and sometimes had to do the work around the farm. There were times when he would have a seizure outside and Cindy would pick him up and carry him into the house and put him to bed and nurse him until he felt better. They were a good match, since she was a large, strong-built woman and he was a slight-built man and needed so much physical help.
