William H. Brown Buried Saturday
William H. Brown, a familiar figure about the streets of Kingman many years, died at Memorial hospital Monday, May 23. He had been in failing health almost a year.
Pending the arrival of relatives, the funeral was postponed until Saturday afternoon, and was held at the Livingston chapel with Mrs. Charles Menke officiating.
Mr. Brown was born at Montrose, Iowa, August, 13, 1871, a son of Mr. And Mrs. Stephen Brown. The family came to Kingman county in the late 70?s and lived on a farm near Varner. His father was one of the first sheepmen in the county when it was a strenuous job on account of the bitter rivalry between the cattlemen and the sheepmen.
He was married to Martha J. Winfrey September 30, 1896 and they lived on a farm near Varner until Mrs. Brown's death August 28, 1908. The family then moved to Kingman, where he had since lived.
He is survived by seven children: Mrs. Ethel Robinson of Kingman, Mrs. Carrie Hartsock of Raleigh, NC., Frank of Fargo, Okla., Ted of Kingman, Mrs. Mary Opal McMillan of Beloit, Charles and Curtis of San Francisco; one sister, Mrs. Irene Armstrong of Kingman; and one brother, George E Brown, of Buffalo, Okla.

Actually Williams parents were: John R. Brown & Mary J. Parker Brown. Don't know where the name of Stephen fits into the family.
Kingman Co. courthouse has land records for Stephen Brown having owned land in White twsp which is in the area of Varner where William Henry & Martha Jane also owned land.
