Eulice C. Smart, 77, of Hartshorne, died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2006, at his home. Born Dec. 18, 1928, in Everton, Ark., he was the son of Chris R. and Sallie (Young) Smart. He married Nellie Jane Keith on March 11, 1952, in Fort Smith, Ark. He was a member of the Hartshorne Christian Church and enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Nellie Smart, of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, James and Dwyla Smart, of Hartshorne; one daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Roy McCarroll, of Linwood. Also, one brother, Jewel Smart, of Okmulgee; three grandchildren, Dale James, of Hartshorne, Mary Sparks, of Hartshorne, and J.D. Smart, of Hartshorne, and five great-grandchildren, Myra Kurz, Fort Lee, Va., Jessica James, Corpus Christie, Texas, Marissa James, of Hartshorne, Paige Sparks, of Hartshorne, and Brayden Sparks, of Hartshorne. Honorary pallbearers will be Elvin Smart, Rudy Jimenez, Grady Green, Warren Lindley, Mark Savage, Jerry Holt, Jack Mickle, Skeet Franklin, Dewitt Bivin, Steve Mass, Mike Mass, Danny Mass, David Mass, Bobby Taylor and Billy Joe Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ivon Bailey. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Bache-Red Oak Cemetery Pavilion with the Rev. Mark Day, and Rev. Edward Capers and Steve Mass officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of Hartshorne.
