Son of Simon (Simeon) Leet & Bette Price. He was born in the parish of St. Marylebone, London County, England. His first marriage was to Elizabeth "Betsy" Cox on February 21, 1793, in Powhaten County, Virginia. This marriage resulted in eleven children. Betsy Cox died sometime before November 24, 1812, when Jeptha married Elizabeth Bass. Elizabeth Bass bore him four children. Jeptha was a widower again by February 6, 1821 when he married his third wife, Sarah Burton (the former Mrs. Francis M. Winfree) in Chesterfield County, VA. Jeptha and Sarah had one child.
He was a veteran of the War of 1812. 3rd Lt. under command of Capt. Jesse Woodson of the 1st Reg. Virginia Militia, at Camp Holly Springs, VA. 15 Sept to 14 Nov 1814 - Jeptha Leet was Master Artificer, attached to Gen. Pobert Porterfield's Brigade, Camp Holly.
