Burlington/St. Albans - Frederick R. Curry, 93 of Burlington and formerly of St. Albans died Saturday, June 19, 2010.

Fred was born January 23, 1917, to Frederic Curry, Sr. and Caroline (Robert) Curry in St. Albans; he graduated from BFA Academy in 1936 and on October 28, 1940, he married Irene Bellegarde.

In 1945, Fred served in the Army as a finance clerk while being stationed in Italy. He was very proud of his military service.

Fred worked for the Railroad in St. Albans and New London, CT from 1937 until his retirement in 1977. He was an avid hunter and would always say he knew every fruit tree and berry bush in the whole city and town of St. Albans. Fred loved his camp on West Shore and would say that he had a little piece of heaven while sitting on his porch; he was sure there was no better place to sit.

Fred leaves his grandchildren, Bonnie Curry of St. Albans, Gavin Curry of Winooski and Tyler Cochran of Milton; and his daughter in law, Joyce Curry of Hinesburg. He also leaves his two special great grandchildren, Tristan & Kathleen Morgan of St. Alban, whom he thought the world of, Richard Laplante III of Arkansas; and a special friend Steve Morgan, who took Fred shopping and to doctor appointments in his later years. He also leaves a nephew Francis Curry, his sisters-in-law, Theresa Zalor of West Springfield, MA and Lorraine Martin of St. Albans. Fred was pre-deceased by his wife Irene in 1996 and his two sons Charles in 1962 and Robert in 2003.

Fred's family would like to thank Darlene Stevens, Jim Gossen and the entire 5th floor staff of Burlington Health & Rehab in Burlington. Fred's final months were filled with smiling faces and wonderful care. Fred had many angels talking care of him, getting him ready for his final journey. A heartfelt thank you to all of them.

Fred's family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 12:00 Noon in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church on Fairfield Street. Interment will follow in the family lot in Holy Cross Cemetery.
