Matilda Rogers died at the age of 110. She was believed to be the oldest person in Kansas. She was born in Wapello county, Iowa March 16, 1852. She moved to western Kansas with her husband, the late J.C. Rogers, in 1891. She lived in the northwest Kansas area 72 years.
A former school teacher, she was widely know as "Aunt Matilda" or "Grandma".
At the time of her death in 1962 she had 153 living descendants representing five generations. They include two children, 19 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren, 61 great-great grandchildren and eight great-great-great grandchildren.
