Sabatino (Sam) Spadoni, 64, of Eureka died Friday in a local hospital after a brief illness. He was born on June 6, 1894, in Italy and had lived in the Eureka vicinity for the past five years. He came here from Tacoma, Wash., where he was widely known. He was a veteran of World War I, and was owner and operator for a restaurant in Eureka.

He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Victoria Felts, of Tacoma, Wash.; a brother, Frank Spadoni of Tacoma, Wash.; a sister in Chicago, Ill.; and a grandson, Donald Spadoni of the U.S. Navy, stationed in Japan.

Friends may call at Cooper Mortuary Chapel of the Ferns on Saturday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Private funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon, with interment to be in Ocean View Cemetery.

Sam was the son of Victoria Biagi and Augusto Spadoni.

Sam enlisted in the U.S. Army on October 3, 1917. He served with the 26th Spruce Production Squadron Air Service as a Cook. He was honorably discharged on January 10, 1919.

Sam married Mary Morini on October 6, 1919, in Whatcom, Washington.

By 1930, Sam and Mary had divorced. Sam was living in Tacoma, WA.
