Edith C. Crowe Bivins 88, of Speedway, passed away Wed. January 11, 2006. She was born June 23, 1917 in Whitesville, Kentucky to Walter Wavy CROWE and Leona (MORGAN) CROWE. She was the owner and operator of Edith's Beauty Shop on North Olney Street and 2 locations on W. 16th Street, retiring after 40 years in 1984. She married Arthur "Art" B. Bivins on July 21, 1933, he preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughters: Martha "Marty" Hopkins of Downey, California and Frances "Frankie" Konovsek, Brownsburg, Indiana. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Hoover Crowe and sisters: Mattie Raymer and Lillian Crowe. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wed. Jan. 18 at Conkle Funeral Home, Speedway Chapel with visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tues. Jan. 17 at the funeral home. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
