Alice was first married to Wilbert Lee Campbell on 25 Dec 1937 in Clifton Forge, Alleghany, Virginia. They divorced on 2 Aug 1967 in Newport News, Independent Cities, Virginia. They had four children.

Alice Glass Backus, age 88, passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2007. She had been a resident of Newport News for 49 years and was a member of the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, Hampton, Va.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Freeman B. Backus.

Surviving are one daughter, Brenda Champ of Newport News; three sons, Larry L. Campbell of Poquoson, W. Glenn Campbell of Newport News, Robert Gregory Campbell and his wife, Shirley, of Williamsburg, four grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Family will receive friends from 7- 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, at Peninsula Funeral Home. Services will be held at noon Wednesday, March 21, at Peninsula Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park.

Memorial donations may be made to First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, 1458 Todds Lane, Hampton, VA 23666.
