Lela Mae Vaccaro Johnson, 91 years, of Bryan, passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2013 in her residence. Lela was born March 12, 1922 in Harrison County, Missouri, the daughter of the late Joseph (s/b Joel) C. and Effie Lea (Stewart) Stanton. She was a graduate of Blythesdale High School. She married Joseph A. Vaccaro and he preceded her in death on December 20, 1968. She then married Clifford L. Johnson on April 12, 1973, and he preceded her in death on February 19, 1997. Lela was a devoted wife and mother. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Defiance. She was a member of the Bryan Ladies of the Shrine and the Bryan Ladies of the Moose. Lela enjoyed creating floral arrangements and oil painting.


Surviving are her three children; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, two brothers, Ray Stanton and Carl Stanton and one sister, Betty.


Visitation for Lela Mae Vaccaro Johnson will be held on Friday, November 21, 2013 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan where funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 23, 2013 with Father Jim Halleron officiating. Interment will follow in Fountain Grove Cemetery, Bryan.
