Services Thursday For Elmer Wonder
Elmer Henry Wonder, 53, died unexpectedly at his home here Monday night.
Funeral services will be held Thursday {today} at 2 p.m. from the First Methodist Church with Rev. Robert E. Smith, pastor of the Federated Church, in charge. Burial will be held in Greenwood cemetery under the direction of Lockstone's.
Wonder had suffered from asthma for a number of years and spent about a week in the hospital prior to his death. He was feeling much better last Friday and left the hospital to return to his home. He was downtown Saturday.
He was born in Bessie on April 25, 1901 and came to Weatherford with his parents as a young boy. He spent his early life here and then moved to Iowa where he was engaged in the bakery business for a number of years.
Later he lived at McAlester, returning to Weatherford about 10 years ago. For the past six years he had been a member of the maintenance staff at Southwestern State College.
Surviving him are his wife, Beryl; one son, Don, a student at the University of Oklahoma; one sister, Mrs. John Bergen, Weatherford; two brothers, Albert Wonder, Battle Creek, Iowa, and Gordon Wonder, Weatherford and two grandchildren.
