In 1950, she attended Xavier University in New Orleans, Louisiana, in 1954, she moved to Cleveland, Ohio., and a year later was hired by N.A.C.A. (later N.A.S.A.) at the Lewis Research Center. Annie's work supported aeronautics, aerospace and energy studies at Lewis Research. She also worked as a tutor for inner city students, she was a recruiter for NASA, a member of the NASA Lewis Speaker's Bureau, she was a member of the B.P.W. and served as a E.E.O. counselor.
In 1977, Annie Easley was conferred the bachelor of science degree in Mathematics from Cleveland State University. After receiving her degree, she began working in NASA's Launch Vehicle Division, often traveling to Florida for project reviews to support both manned and unmanned launches. She co-authored numerous papers in the field of nuclear rocket engine systems and the economics of combined-cycle cogeneration power plants.
Annie was a founding member and President of the NASA Ski Club and the Cleveland Metro Ski Council, as well as the Fagowees, Snowballers, Erie Shore and Warren Ski Clubs. She also was a regular skier in Colorado, Canada and Europe and began running for conditioning and later competition, played tennis and golf. She will be remembered as a bright, fun-loving, bubbly personality.
