Nancy B. Swart, 57, of Stillwater Road, town of Watson, a retired teacher, died Thursday afternoon at her home, where she had been under the care of Hospice. Mrs. Swart had been ill with cancer.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Jan. 18 at the United Methodist Church, Clifton Springs. Burial will be in Newark Village Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Virkler Percoski-Miller Funeral Home, Lowville.
There will be no calling hours. Contributions may be made to the Nancy Backus Swart Scholarship Fund, in care of Midlakes High School, Clifton Springs, N.Y., 14432.
Born July 1, 1934, in Syracuse, daughter of Edgar and Cora Hawley Backus, she was graduated from Waterloo High School and from Cortland State Teachers College.
Mrs. Swart taught elementary school at the Phelps-Clifton Springs Central School from 1965 until her retirement in 1989.
