Mrs. Annie Ruth Jaggers Smith, 92, former long-time resident of Turpin Circle, died Friday, August 8, 2008 at Bedford County Nursing Center.

Graveside services will be conducted Sunday at 4:00 p.m. at Polk Memorial Gardens...

Born in the Hampshire Community in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late John S. Jaggers and Bessie Sue Odil Jaggers. She was a 1933 graduate of Hampshire High School and a 1935 graduate of Watkins Institute in Nashville.

She married Reverend Jacob Smith in 1971, and joined him in service to congregations in the Columbia and Lawrenceburg Districts of the United Methodist Church. Mrs. Smith also served as organist at numerous churches during her years as Rev. Smith's helpmate. She became a member of Hampshire United Methodist Church in childhood and in recent years held membership in Craft Memorial United Methodist Church. Rev. Smith died March 16, 1989.

Survivors include two daughters, Patsy Ann Johnson (Fariss) Grimes of Mt. Pleasant and Janie Ruth Johnson (Hal) Skelton of Wartrace; four grandchildren...; two great-granddaughters...; sister-in-law, Maureen Beech Jaggers of Cleveland. She was preceded in death by a brother, J. S. Jaggers....
