He retired after 25 years in the United States Army, retiring in 1976. R.C. enjoyed being outside on his tractor and gardening. He was a member of Oakland Baptist Church.

Survivors include: Son & Daughter-in-law, Mike & Donna Holder; Daughters & Sons-in-law, Kathy & Scott Graves, Becky & Jody Cole, and Linda & Stanley Tipton; Eight Grandchildren; Three Great-Grandchildren and Two on the way; Sister, Lexie Cooper; several nieces and nephews.
