Betty was born May 22, 1938 in Wakefield, Nebraska, to Marvin and Ruth (Roberts) Killion. She was raised in Wakefield and graduated from Wakefield High School in 1956.
Betty attended summer school at Wayne State and worked at the Chevy dealership in Wayne. In October of 1956 she met the love of her life Duane “Harlo” Wilcox in Blair.
On December 30, 1956 the couple were united in marriage at the Mission Covenant Church in Wakefield, Nebraska. They were blessed with two children, a daughter and a son.
Betty worked at Collins Millwork, which made wooden furniture, in Kennard, Nebraska. Later, she worked for several years at the Arlington Veterinary Clinic and then for Western Engineering, an asphalt paving company, until her retirement.
She enjoyed working with her flowers, ceramics, camping, reading, fishing and attending blue grass music festivals.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, The Betty Club, and a former member of the Kennard Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad.
Elizabeth “Betty” J. Wilcox age 78 of Kennard, Nebraska passed away August 15, 2016 at her home in Kennard.
Left with memories are her loving husband, daughter and son-in-law, her daughter-in-law, seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, special loved ones Roxanne Nielsen and family; brother Neil (Lynne) Killion of Oregon; sister Mary Killion of Texas; many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by son James and an infant brother.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, August 19, 2016 at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 1734 Grant St., Blair, Nebraska. Graveside Services will follow in the Arlington Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 18, 2016 at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home, Blair, Nebraska beginning at 3 pm. Family will be receiving friends from 6-8 pm with a prayer service being held at 7 pm. Memorials may be directed to the Kennard Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad or to St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Blair.
