Funeral services to celebrate the life of Ben F. Phillips, "Jr.", 74, of Davenport, will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 14 2012 at New Life Baptist Church, 7780 W. Locust Street, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. His family will greet friends Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home in downtown Davenport. There will be an additional visitation Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Mr. Phillips passed away Friday, March 9, 2012 at Trinity at Terrace Park, Bettendorf, following an extended illness.
Benjamin Franklin Phillips was born May 4, 1937 in Elioa, Kentucky one of 13 children of Benjamin F. and Floy (Mullins) Phillips. He was united in marriage to Judy Faye Warfe, August 22, 1958 in Wise, Virginia. Together they celebrated over 53 years of marriage until her death July 5, 2011.
Jr. had retired form Blackhawk foundry after 47 years of service. He was a member of New Life Baptist church. His greatest joy was his loving family and spending time with them attending their many activities. He also enjoyed fellowship dinners, trips with church members and special friends Sandy and Floyd.
Memorials may be made to the family.
Survivors include his son Frankie Phillips, Davenport; his loving grandchildren Tony Phillips, Davenport, Gregory (Kristina) Phillips, Davenport and Jeffrey Phillips, Davenport; two great grandsons; his sisters, Doris King, Davenport, Elsie Proffit, Whitsett, N.C. Ella (Frank) Cromer, Riner, VA; his brothers; Hoyt (Linda) Phillips, Blackburg, VA, Verlon (Jean) Phillips, Mertle Creek, OR, Kenneth (Shirley) Phillips, Thomasville, NC; His brother-in-law Dan Warfe, Marion, VA,; a nephew Buddy of Ohio and special loving niece Faye Infante, as well as numerous other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, an infant daughter Barbara Faye Phillips, 4 sisters 2 brothers. May they rest in peace.
