METTER - Lorena Beasley Durden, 89, of Metter died Thursday, February 20, 2014, at Ogeechee Area Hospice.

Born in Bulloch County, she was the daughter of Clem G. and Claudia Lee Beasley. Lorena was a 1941 Statesboro High School graduate where she played basketball. Living in Candler County most of her life, she retired as a Supervisor at Twin City Manufacturing Company and was a great seamstress. She was a member of the Metter First Baptist Church and the Naomi Ester Sunday School Class. Preceding her in death were her parents; a sister, Gwendolyn Littlefield; two brothers, C.G. Beasley and Vernon Mincey.

Survivors are her husband of 69 years, G.W. Durden of Metter; two sisters, Nadine Wilson of Savannah and Margaret Thompson (Russell) Collins of Swainsboro; a sister-in-law, Ada Beasley of Savannah; and many nieces and nephews she loved so much.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, 2:00 pm, at the Metter First Baptist Church with burial in the Antioch Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.
