Myrtle Ruth was born October 27, 1897 in Winslow, Illinois to Robert and Ardell (Young) Harrison.
She married Alfred Lee "A.L" McIlheran, and they were blessed with two children.
In 1940, the McIlherans were living at 719 E. 3rd, Monmouth, Illinois, where her husband was a secretary for the local YMCA. Edith McIlheran, 77, her husband's widowed mother, was living with them, and had been at least since 1935, at the same address.

Mrs. Ruth McIlheran’s Death Follows Husband’s by 3 Months
Word has just been received that Mrs. A.L. McIlheran (Ruth) passed away at the Clarkson Hospital in Omaha during the first week in July. She had moved to Fremont in June where she planned to make her home.
Mr. McIlheran had died suddenly in his home in Mesa, Arizona, on April 23rd.
Their bodies were cremated and distributed over the desert in Arizona.
They are survived by a son, Robert McIlheran in Fremont and a daughter, Mrs. Stack Samuelson (Jean) of Osceola, Iowa, and four grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. McIlheran were well known in Blair. They owned and operated the B & C Shop before retiring and moving to Arizona. Both were very active in the Blair Methodist Church.
