Harry Edgar Thayer was born on 29. Jan. 1867 at Mora, Illinois. He was the son of Enos Thayer and Mary Elizabeth Faries. Harry Edgar Thayer married Ida Alice Totman on 6. Feb. 1892 at At the Home of the bride's parents, Hayes Twp., Buena Vista County, Iowa; Harry Thayer of Maple Valley to Miss Ida Totman of Hayes Twp. Married at the residence of the bride's parents, last Saturday, by Rev. J. J. Gardner. Feb. 12,1892. The Alta Advertiser. Harry Edgar Thayer married Nancy Ann Dwyer on 28. Feb. 1928 at Storm Lake, Buena Vista County, Iowa; Marriage Record Buena Vista County Courthouse: Harry E. Thayer to Nancy A. VanCleve Feb. 22,1928.

Page: 207. Harry Edgar Thayer married Ada Belle Snyder on 15. Oct. 1936. Harry Edgar Thayer died on 8. Mar. 1937 at Long Beach, Los Angeles County, California, at age 70. Funeral rites for Harry E. Thayer, a prominent and highly respected resident of Hayes township, who died Monday in Long Beach, Ca. were held Sunday afternoon at the Methodist Church at 2:30. The Witter brothers quartet sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Aibe With Me". Rev. M.P. Arramith conducted the service.
Burial was in the Storm Lake Cemetery. Pallbearer were his two sons, Homer and Leslie, two Son-in-laws, Carl Foell and Ralph Diehl, and two grandsons, Kenneth Foell and Paul Diehl.
Harry E. Thayer was born January 29, 1867 in Maroa,Ill. In 1882 he came to Iowa with his parents settling on a farm in Hayes Township. He was a member of a family of five children three boys and two girls. One brother and one sister has preceded him in death.
In 1892, February 6, he was united in Marriage to Miss Ida Totman and they made their home in Hayes township, the place that in now known as the Thayer farm. To this union were born four children; Homer, Mrs. Carl Foell (Berniece), Mrs. Ralph Deihl (Ruth), all of Storm Lake, and Leslie Thayer of Clear Lake. Mrs. Thayer died Dec. 16,1926.
In 1928 he was married to Mrs. Nancy VanCleve who preceded him in death in 1935, the same year his sister Claudia passed away.
On Oct.15,1936 Mr. Thayer and Mrs. Ada Grieve were married at the Methodist parsonage and a few weeks later they went to Long Beach, Ca. for the winter months. On Feb.25 he was taken suddenly ill with heart attack and was taken to the Harrimon Jones clinic hospital were he passed away on the eighth of March.
Mr. Thayer was a man of commendable character, winning the highest respect and confidence of all his friends, neighbors and business associates He was a devoted Christian and an active in the affairs of the Methodist Church. He was very much devoted to his home and family and took great interest in his grandchildren.
Those who are left to mourn his passing are his wife; four children, a brother Art, near Alta, one sister Mrs. Ollie Crouse of Los Angles,Ca; and twenty-one grandchildren. Herbert and Marguerite Thayer, Mrs. Ralph Snider, Kenneth, Kathryn and Harold Foell, Paul, Doris and Robert Diehl, Jimmy and Janet Thayer.
Those form out of town who attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Charley Rankin of Spencer, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hines of Sheldon, Mr. and Mrs. George Totman and Mr. and Mrs. Allen Conley of Quimby, Mr. and Mrs. Darrel Ennis of Hartley, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Mudge of Superior, Mr, and Mrs. Buren Anderson of Newell, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Olsen of Minneapolis, Mr. and Mrs. C.H. Deihl of Cherokee, Mr. and Mrs. George Schlieff of Sac City, and Dr. and Mrs. O.K. Simonsen of Cherokee. He was buried on 14. Mar. 1937 at Storm Lake Cemetery, Storm Lake, Bunea Vista County, Iowa.
