Mrs. Cattle died Saturday, Oct. 21, in Lawrenceburg, KY, at the age of 94.

Memorial contributions may be made to Howard Cattle Elementary School in Chino, named for her husband of 60 years, a former mayor.

Mrs. Cattle was born Dec. 21,1911, in Blue Rapids, Kan., and came to Ontario at an early age with her parents, Harry H. and Lena L. Cook. Mrs. Cattle graduated from Chaffey High School and attended business college in Pomona.

On Feb. 7,1932, she married Howard Cattle, a native of Canada. Mrs. Cattle was an active member of Chino Valley Hospital Auxiliary, of which she was a charter member in 1972. In 1989, she was named volunteer of the year.

In 2000, Mrs. Cattle was awarded Chino's Edwin Rhodes community service award for her many years of volunteer work. She was a life member of the Chino Valley Historical Society.

During her career of wife, mother, business partner and high school sports booster, she was also a Girl Scout leader, school playground supervisor and charter member of the Chino Hospital Auxiliary. She remained vigorous into her 90's.

The Cattles were faithful supporters of athletics and band at Chino High, where Mr. Cattle graduated in 1924. They provided jackets for outstanding football players and an annual blanket award for the top athlete, until new CIF regulations shut down the practice.

When her daughters, Marcia and Janet, were growing up she led two Brownie troops and held various committee positions. When they got older she was leader of the first Mariner troop in Chino. Her family and friends will remember her humor, drive and commitment to excellence.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Ann Hopkins.

She is survived by a daughter, Marcia Roth of Lawrenceburg, KY; her son-in-law, Dr. Sid Hopkins of Lexington, KY; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She also leaves a sister, Thelma Snyder of Oregon.
