Known for years as "Sam, the Barber", Sam was married at least five times during his lifetime, outliving most of his wives.

Little is known about his first wife, Rosa (last name unknown). Rosa was born in October of 1875 in Ohio and they were married about 1899. It is not clear what happened to her.

His second wife was Minta M, or "Minnie", Danford. They were married about 1903-1904 and produced two sons before being divorced. The older son, Samuel, died as an infant. Minta remarried to Frank Guthrie before her death during the Great Flu epidemic of 1918.

His third wife was Thirza (last name unknown). She was born about 1881-1882 in Indiana and I believe they were married about 1918-1920.

Sam's Fourth wife Nellie D (unknown maiden name) died in 1948. Sam is buried next to her.

Grace A Campbell, his fifth wife, married Sam in 1949 and was married to him until his death in 1971, living together for about 22 years.
