Nona G. Curtice, 89, Raymore, Missouri, died February 20, 2006 at Baptist Lutheran Hospital. Mrs. Curtice was born August 16, 1916 in Wilson County near Chanute, Kansas. She was the daughter of Arthur A. and Media I. (McWilliams) Anderson. She was married to Chester I. Curtice on June 27, 1937 in Kansas City, Missouri. Nona worked in the Airbrush Dept. of Hall Bros, Inc (Hallmark) in the 1930's. Chester and Nona were the owners of the Green Lantern Cafe in Lawrence, Kansas before returning to the Kansas City area in 1961. She was a resident of the Kansas City area for over 40 years. She will be remembered by many as a very special sales associate with the JC Penneys Stores of Truman Corners and the Bannister Mall.
She was a past worthy matron of the Park/Swope Park chapter #520 of the Order of Eastern Star in 1973 and a member of the Social Order of the Beauceant, Lawrence Assembly #25, of Lawrence, Kansas. She was a member of the Raymore Christian Church.
Survivors include her daughters, Virginia Pingleton and husband Jim of Abilene, Texas; Darlene Curtice, Snohomish, Washington; and Shirley Craft and husband Quentin, Exton, PA; a sister, Velma Anderson, Bartlesville, OK; a sister-in-law, Elsie Anderson, Grove, Oklahoma; a brother, Lowry Anderson, Lawrence, Kansas; four grandchildren, Rhonda Pingleton, San Marcos, Texas; Stephen Leavens, St. Paul, Minnesota; Amy Carroll, Jupiter, Florida; Christopher Helman, Houston, Texas; five great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Curtice in 1978, one brother Dale Anderson, and two sisters, Lillian Timmons and Cecile Anderson.
Services including an Eastern Star service will be at 2:00 PM Friday, February 24, 2006 at the Newcomer's Floral Hills Chapel with burial in the Floral Hills cemetery, with Rev. Dr. Rick Rintamaa, senior minister of the Raymore Christian Church officiating.
Family and friends may call from 6 to 8 PM Thursday at the Floral Hills Chapel. There will also be a Memorial Service at Foxwood Springs Living Center, Raymore, Missouri, where she was a resident on Monday, February 27, 2006 at 2:00 PM. This service will be officiated by the Reverends Bennie and Karen Yount.
