Leonard Marion Baum, 85, died Sunday, November 12, 2006, at an Abilene medical center.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. today at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy 277 South, with Rev. David Black officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Born in Cross Plains, Texas on February 4, 1921, he was the son of Frances Virginia (Brightwell) and George Thomas Baum. He lived most of his life in the Abilene area, and moved from Cross Plains to Abilene in 1958. Leonard was a U. S. Army veteran and worked for the City of Abilene as a supervisor in the street department.
Leonard married Dorothy Niedecken in Abilene in 1995. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Abilene, and enjoyed Abilene's Senior Citizens activities.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Leo Baum, and a sister, Fannie Plowman.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Niedecken Baum of Abilene; a son, Mark Baum and wife, Frances Humphrey, of New Braunfels; and stepsons, John Craig and wife, Janice, and J. T. Craig of McKinney, George Niedecken and wife, Margaret, of Abilene, and Terry Niedecken and wife, Kathleen Kay, of Fort Worth. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, Aaron Humphrey, Rebecca Humphrey, Elizabeth Humphrey, Michael Humphrey, Christopher Humphrey, Dru Niedecken, Carly Niedecken, Lisa Kay Niedecken, Timothy Niedecken, Jill Suzanne Baum, Rebecca Mae Baum, Melissa Brooke Baum and Angela Lindsey, and two great-grandchildren, Banning Lindsey and Samantha Connelly.
