Olympic Athlete. He was a member of the University of Washington's crew that won a bronze medal in the men's four-oared shells with coxswain at the 1952 Summer Olympic Games in Helsinki. He served as the head coach at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 1956 to 1959, the University of Washington from 1959 to 1967 and Western Washington University from 1977 to 1993. He was inducted into the Western Washington University Hall of Fame in 1998 and the University of Washington Hall of Fame in 2002. (bio by: Nils M. Solsvik Jr.)
