Daughter of Levi HILL and Catherine HOWARD. Wife of John FRY. Mother of ten.
Mrs. Sarah E. (Hill) Fry, widow of John Fry, passed away at 3:30 o'clock this morning at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. C.H. Rager, 358 Corrine street, Oakhurst, after an illness lasting six days. Her death was due to pneumonia. She was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Levi Hill and was born and raised in Indiana County. Her husband died about 26 years ago and since 1910 she had made her home with the Rager family in the Twentieth Ward. Miss Hill and John Fry were married in Indiana County on December 31, 1857. Mr. Fry served in Company G., 206th Regiment, P.V.I., in the Civil War under Col. Hugh Brady. This regiment was composed of men from Westmoreland, Indiana, and Jefferson counties. Larry Fry, grandson of the deceased, was one of the American boys who went to France with the Expeditionary Forces in 1917 and was killed in action the following year while serving along the Western front. His body was brought to America a few years ago and was laid to rest in the Armagh Cemetery. Mrs. Fry is survived by eight sons and daughters, 30 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchidren. The surviving sons and daughters are George and John E. Fry, of Armagh; Hill and Martin L. Fry, of Seward; Hugh Fry and Mrs. Fannie Mack, of Pittsburg, and Mrs. Annie Jones and Mrs. Elizabeth Rager, both of Oakhurst. The funeral will take place probably on Monday, when services will be conducted by the deceased's pastor, the Rev. Don Hindman of the Armagh Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in the Armagh Cemetery.
