A REMEDY MADE. In late July of 2016, this writer first learned of the burial location of Bessie Julia Williams, his grandmother's sister, and visited her burial site, Plot# 2743, Space 4, in LAUREL GROVE NORTH CEMETERY, Savannah, Georgia and was surprised to discover there was NO HEADSTONE OR OTHER MARKER on her gravesite. Cemetery records confirmed her 1st husband, John G. Moore, had purchased the plot prior to his death and only two headstones were there, one for his 8-year old daughter at SPACE #1 and one for her father, John G. Moore, both having prominent HEADSTONES. Evidently, after great aunt Bessie's 2nd husband died, she did not have time to make arrangements for a headstone marking his burial in that same plot, in SPACE #3, most probably because she, great aunt Bessie may have been sick for she died exactly 100 days after her 2nd husband, HERMAN MALCOLM MURKEN, died and no one stepped up to make arrangements for and pay for his and later her headstone markers. These two graves lay unmarked for another 92 years, 6 months when stone markers with identifying information were placed on these two (2) unmarked graves by descendants of great aunt Bessie Julia Williams' eldest sister, Ann Elizabeth "Annie Eliza" Williams Bowen. Three of great aunt Bessie's great nephews witnessed the placement of these two (2) new headstone markers on Tuesday, September 27, 2016, 3:30 PM to 4:00 PM: (1) Charles Elliott Bowen, age 80; (2) Ralph Bowen Jones, age 82; and William Kenneth Bowen, age 83.

This family information obtained from my family’s knowledge and the able assistance of Find A Graver, Robert Thompson, the 1880 US Federal Census, Cemetery Records, and findagrave.com memorial records, and was prepared on August 01, 2016 by William Kenneth Bowen, great nephew of Bessie Julia Williams and grandson of Ann Elizabeth "Annie Eliza" Williams Bowen, eldest sister of Bessie Julia Williams. This biography will be updated as new information is identified and thoroughly authenticated. FIRST UPDATE: 02 OCT 2016, and last update: 10 JAN 2017.
