Francine King, 84, of Creston, died Thursday, October 15, 2009 at the Creston Nursing and Rehab Center in Creston.

Pastor Jim Morris will officiate. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, east of Afton.

Francine King, daughter of Albert Dewey McClure and Eva Elnora (White) McClure, was born on Nov. 7, 1924 in Union County, Iowa. She graduated from Afton High School in 1942. On April 26, 1945, she married Gene King at the Afton United Methodist Church parsonage. They lived and farmed in Union County, then in Madison County, returning to Union County in 1952. Francine was a homemaker and farmwife. Gene died in 1990. Francine moved into Creston in 1991. She had been a member of the Dodge Center Methodist Church, and more recently, the Creston United Methodist Church. She also belonged to the Union County Genealogical Society and the Union County Historical Society. She loved to walk her dog.

Francine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gene, her son-in-law, Glenn Winn, two sisters, Arlene Sullivan and Jean McClure, one brother, Joseph Wayne McClure, and two brothers-in-law, Rex King and Eugene Sullivan.
