Her parents were of English descent. The old home place of James Boatman, her father, is the present site of Willow Springs, MO. On November 28, 1833 She was married to Thomas Lane in Macoupin County, IL. From Illinois she and her husband moved to Mississippi 1837, then to Arkansas in 1838 and on to Greene County, Missouri in 1839. Here in 1847 she and her husband were converted and joined the Protestant Methodist Church. In 1855 they moved to their old home place just outside the present southwest limits of Mountain Grove, Missouri. Near the close of the war they went to Illinois again. Finally they in 1870 moved again this time to their well known Texas County, Missouri home, 2 1/2 miles Northeast of Mountain Grove where at 1:00 a.m., Monday May 22, 1893, her earthly pilgrimage was ended. Much sickness has fallen to her lot, and she had been an invalid for the last 3 years. The last 6 days suffering was severe and then after 75 years, 4 months, and 20 days of journey here she entered into rest almost, 60 years she walked beside Jim , who now stands alone. 10 children blessed their union, 4 of whom, (3 in childhood, 1 in adult age) passed on before. 6, Dr. Isaac R. Lane, Mountain Grove, MO.; Dr. John H. Lane, Medora, Macoupia County, Illinois; Mrs. Mary A. Workman, Texas County, MO.; Mrs. Agnes Stubbs, Platte County, MO; Mrs. Jennette Greene, Texas County, MO.; and Sampson W. Lane, at the old home place, remain to mourn her loss. On the day before her when one of her loved ones asked if she was prepared to go she answered, "I have always lived perfectly prepared." On Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the house where she lived, B. P. Searcy, pastor M. E. Church South preached Thessalonians IV-13.
