Born June 12, 1927, in Gallipolis, she was the daughter of the late James Harold and Iva Rowena Eblin Barcus.
In addition to her parents, Violet was preceded in death by her husband, J. Owen "Oney" Lloyd, whom she married March 19, 1949, and who preceded her in death on Jan. 24, 1980; brother Melvin Lee Barcus; and two sisters, Alma Martin and Margaret Cromlish.
Violet loved the Lord and served him in different capacities, over the years, at the First Baptist Church, where she was a member. She was a youth leader, and also served in Vacation Bible School. For many years, she was sunshine lady and took this job serious, making sure she didn't miss anyone who should receive a card. She was a member of the Betty Stam Sunday School Class and a graduate of Gallia Academy High School.

McCarty, of Vinton, and Terry (Janice) Lloyd and Vicki (Ernie) Irwin, of Gallipolis; four grandchildren, Anthony "Tony" (Jessica) Lloyd, Jacqueline "Jill" (Darren) Clagg, Kelli (Geoffrey) Cunningham, and Daniel Irwin; three great-grandsons; two great-granddaughters; two step-great-grandsons; one sister, Erma Adkins, of Gallipolis; one sister-in-law Helen Barcus, of Crown City; three special friends, Jan Howell, Sandy Kerns, and Connie Ellis; and several nieces and nephews.
