David E. Burkhart Sr.
David E. Burkhart Sr., 69, of Verona died Saturday (Aug. 3, 2002) at the Forbes Hospice, Pittsburgh.
Born April 23, 1933, in Pittsburgh, he lived in Penn Township as a child. A lifelong resident of the Valley, he lived in Verona the past four years.
He retired from Woodings Tool Works in Verona.
Mr. Burkhart was a member of Verona Eagles and Moose, American Legion in Oakmont and the New Kensington American Legion and Eagles.
An avid Pirates and Steelers fan, he also enjoyed fishing and socializing with friends.
Survivors include two sons, David E. Jr. (Maria) Burkhart, with whom he lived, and Richard (Jennifer) Burkhart of Penn Hills; two daughters, Mrs. Ginny (David) Pavshak of Cheswick and Cynthia Burkhart of Virginia; six grandchildren; a great-grandson; three brothers, Richard Burkhart of Indiana Township, Raymond Burkhart of Upper Burrell and William Burkhart of North Hills, Pittsburgh; and three sisters, Nancy Wagner of Pitcairn, Olive George of Monroeville and Dorothy Franco of Baden.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Merwin and Catherine Wilson Burkhart, and two brothers, Wilbert and William Burkhart.
Friends and relatives may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME, Oakmont, where a service will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. Officiating will be the Rev. Catherine Day.
Burial will follow in Restland Memorial Park, Monroeville.
New Kensington Eagles will have a service at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
