Mr. James Clay “Jim” Self,/I>, age 81, of Newport, passed on from this world doing what he enjoyed most in life, fishing.
He was a man that made friends wherever he went, a man that was so full of life and laughter, always willing to lend a helping hand. His death will leave emptiness in our family but memories will forever be with us to give comfort.
Mr. Self was a former employee of Rev. A.A. Haggard who operated a knitting mill in West End and he also worked for Freeman’s Furniture and Styles T.V. Repair.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ann Arrington Self; son Ronnie Self; parents Allen David Self and Leona Wyatt Self; brothers Frank Self Sr. and Tom Self; sister Pauline Edwards; companion Lorene Bible.
The family will meet at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday morning, June 14, 2016 at Jonestown Cemetery in Del Rio for the 10:00 a.m. graveside service with Pastor Sherman Sexton officiating.
