Age 93 of Elmira, NY. He was born February 28, 1919 in Elmira, son of the late Paul and Pauline (Ryndziniak) Casil and passed away Monday, December 17, 2012. He was predeceased by his brother John and sisters Kathryn Bowers and Maryann Comfort.
Sam was a member of Holy Trinity Orthodox Christian Church. He retired from Conrail; was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII and was a member of the American Legion Post 154. Sam loved to travel, work around the house and to visit his children. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Thursday, December 20th from 7 to 9 pm. Memorial service will be held at 7:30 pm. His funeral service will be held there on Friday, December 21st at 9:30 am. Rev. Jason Kappanadze will officiate. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Holy Trinity Orthodox Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may remember Sam through donations to CareFirst, 11751 E. Corning Rd., Corning, NY 14830.
