Son of Alexander Beaver & Sarah Ketchey. Husband of Sarah Anne Elizabeth Bostain (ma. 09 Oct 1860).

Enlisted August 8, 1862 in Iredell Co.,NC
Paroled June 12, 1865 at Elmira,NY
He served in the Confederate Band as a fife player. Curious of fighting, he took up arms at Fredericksburg,VA in December 1862 and after firing one shot was shot in the leg and was then quite content to play the fife.
