Rev. Karl E. Hansen, 51, of Arlington, MN and formerly of Blair, passed away of December 31, 1988 at Arlington, MN after a brief illness.

Rev. Hansen was born on Dec. 30, 1937 at Omaha to Marius and Carrie Hansen. He was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church. He graduated from Blair High School in 1956, and attended Dana College for two years.

From 1956 to 1958 he was in the construction business. In 1965 he moved to Aurora, CO and was a Lay Assistant until 1967 at which time he resumed his studies and received his B.S. degree in 1969. He received his Masters of Divinity from Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque, IA in May 1972.

Rev. Hansen served in parishes in Underwood and Farmersburg, IA and Menneota, MN and in July of 1988 moved to Arlington where he was serving the Zion Lutheran Church until his death.

Rev. Hansen is survived by his wife Ruth, two daughters and sons-in-law, Janelle (Mrs. Gerald) Peterson of Webster City, IA; Carolyn (Mrs. Mark) Schlittler of Brooklyn Park, MN; two grandchildren, Jake Peterson and Nathan Schlittler. He is also survived by three brothers, Gerald Hansen of Blair, Stanley of Holland, MI, and Glen of Arvada, CO; by one sister, Dorothy (Mrs. Jack) Leehy of Norfolk, and by many nieces and nephews.

Rev. Hansen was preceded in death by his parents Marius and Carrie Hansen and by one brother, Roger Hansen.

Services were held today, Thursday, Jan. 5, at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Arlington with graveside services at 1 p.m. Jan. 7 at the Webster City Iowa Cemetery. A prayer service was held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Frenske Funeral Home who made the funeral arrangements in Arlington.
