Edith E. Kerr, 86, a resident of Buncombe, passed away 9:15 a.m. Monday, Oct. 30, 2006, at Harrisburg Medical Center.

She was born April 14, 1920, in Johnson County. She was the daughter of John and Addie (Hartline) Gore.

Edith was united in marriage to William Milton "Bill" Kerr on Aug. 14, 1943, in Rossville, Ga. He preceded her in death on May 9, 1999.

Survivors include two sons, Joe (Cathy) Kerr of Carrier Mills and Jack (Kathy) Kerr of Murray, Ky.; eight grandchildren, Steve Evetts, Danny Evetts, Tony Evetts, Patty Sullins, Jeff Kerr, Ellen Anderson, Kristopher Kerr and Joanna Samples; several great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, relatives and many dear friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Edith was preceded in death by a daughter, Louise Daniels; two sons, Billy Kerr and Charles Bellamy; a sister, Alene Spraggs; and three brothers, Leland Gore, Wayne Gore and Leonard Gore.

Edith was a homemaker. She also was a storekeeper and operated a grocery business in Buncombe for a number of years. Edith had formerly served as the Buncombe news correspondent for the Vienna Times newspaper for many years.

Edith was a member of the Buncombe Senior Citizens. She was a member of the Cedar Grove Church near Buncombe. Edith enjoyed crocheting and making ceramic figurines.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, 2006, at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. The Rev. Mike Garrett will officiate. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Buncombe.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2006, at Bailey Funeral Home, Vienna.

Memorials are the preferred form of remembrance and may be directed to the Pleasant Grove Cemetery, c/o Bonita Casey, 6050 State Route 146 East, Buncombe, Ill. 62912.
