Isabel Beck (Miller) Weigold, age 86, died peacefully at her home in Willington, surrounded by her family, on Saturday (February 9, 2008) after a brief illness. She was born on November 1, 1921, daughter of Daniel and Katherine (Ely) Miller. Following her service in the WAVES during World War II, she earned Bachelors and Masters Degrees from the University of Connecticut. She was employed as a psychologist in the Willington school system. She was a founding member of the Willington Historical Society and was appointed Willington's Town Historian; a board member of the Museum of Connecticut Glass, and a member of the Mansfield Historical Society. Over the years she proved tireless in her genealogical research, helping others to solve their mysteries and unearth missing links. She was honored in life with several awards for her contributions to the community. She was an avid UConn basketball fan, and a devoted member of the Housewives Duckpin Bowling League. Isabel touched many lives with her spirit, strength, encouragement, and optimism. She is survived by three sons and a daughter: Daniel and his wife Karen of Colorado, Paul of Willington, Jeffrey and his wife Aprille of Alabama, and Katherine Weigold of Mansfield Center; four grandchildren: Michelle Nemeth and her husband Doug, Clinton MacDonald, Michelle Isham and husband Bryan, Crystal Weigold, and two great-grandchildren; a sister Carol Boyden and her husband Al Moulin of New York, a brother, David Miller and wife Eleanore of East Haddam. She was predeceased by her husband Harold, a son Bruce, and a sister Grace MacDonald. The family would like to thank the many friends and neighbors of Red Oak Hill, Hospice/VNA East, Dr. Hauser, Dr. Riggs and her team at Johnson Memorial Hospital. Special thanks to Lisa and Hillary for their help and support. Friends are invited to call at Potter's Funeral Home on Thursday, February 14 from 6-8 p.m. There will be a Celebration of Life at Storrs Congregational Church on Friday, February 15 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Willington Historical Society, 51 Eldredge Road, Willington, CT 06279 or the Museum of Connecticut Glass, Inc., c/o 27 Plank Lane, Glastonbury, CT 06033.
