JoAnn Lawson passed away on June 1, 2016.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Lawson; sons, Chris Lawson and Marc Lawson; parents, Forrest and Ruby Shoemaker; and sister Louise Ramsey.

She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Lawson (Greg Stewart); grandchildren, Christy Lawson Williams, Justin Stewart, and Matthew Stewart; great grandchildren, Madison Williams and Montana Francis; sisters, Judy Layman (Ed) and Linda Householder; nieces, Sherry Strange, Marcy Hooks, Jennifer Andrews Travis; nephews, Charley Layman (Vicki) and Ricky Ramsey; several great-nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give a very special thanks to Smokey Mountain Home Health and Hospice, Newport Health and Rehab for the excellent care she received, and to her cousins, Margaret Shelton, Pat Hightower, and Carolyn Clevenger White for all their love and support, and to her special friends, Gail Sutton, Polly Webb, and Sue Lane.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday June 11, 2016 at 2:00 pm at First Church of the Nazarene on Second Street in Newport with Rev. John Hale and Rev. Randy Swann officiating.
