She is pre-deceased by her husband Don in 1969, daughter Pam in 2007 and son Stewart in 2011. She is survived by her daughters Judy, Wendy, Debbie, Trish and Jennifer and countless grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She is also survived by her sisters Gwynne and Signe.
Tommie was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on May 17, 1919 and moved to Alberta with her family when she was 15. She met Don Grant in 1940 and was married the same years. She joined the Canadian Armed Forces during WWII as a Partsman. After WWII she and Don moved to Haynes where they farmed until 1953 when they moved to Clive. In 1979 Tommie moved to Edmonton.
A Life Member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Tommie served as Secretary Treasurer for the Clive #171 branch for many years. Her most treasured moments were times spend on the Saskatchewan plains watching water fowl with her sister and cousins. Even though she had her own seven children, Tommie's heart always had room for more in her 'other' children, Peter, Kim, Heidi, Patsi and Susan.
She will be missed. She is the mother of us all.
A celebration will be held in the form of an English Garden Party in the spring where she will be interred with her husband and children.
Donations can be made in honour of Tommie to Ducks Unlimited Canada.
