Born with his twin, Hattie Mary, in the log cabin which his parents, John and Mary kelling, built on the East side of the Boone River, just after they were married. It was a mile or so southeast of Renwick, and northwest of this cemetery.

He is buried just in front of his parents, and he shares a marker with 3 siblings that also died in infancy. He shares the side of the marker with his twin sister Hattie, who died 2 days later. Records show they were buried together on February 23rd, in Liberty Township.
