ROBERT BROADHEAD --was born in Coventry, Warwickshire, England 1836 to William and Sarah Golding Broadhead. The family joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He came to Utah on the ship "Ellen Maria", which sailed to New Orleans with his parents and a brother and sister. Then they boarded a steamboat that took them up the Mississippi to St. Louis. They came across the plains in with the Miller and Cooley Co., and arrived in Salt Lake City 9 Sep 1853. He would be 17 years of age. They settled in Willard, Utah. When Brigham Young proclaimed Martial Law in Sep 1857 to resist the entrance of Johnston's army into Utah, Robert was one of the militia called from Willard to help intercept the army. He was released the following spring. The family moved to Nephi, but early in 1859 he and James Davis came to Heber Valley and began breaking up ground to plant crops--being the first men to plow in this valley, and occupying some of the most choice land with big springs on it. In 1861 he married Alice Clegg and later also married as a plural wife, a widow, Flora Kingsley Boren, and raised a large family. He was very prominent leader in the community, helping in its development. He died 15 Mar 1916 after a short illness.
He was married to Alice CLEGG on 15 Jan 1861 in Heber City, Wasatch, Ut. He was sealed to spouse on 2 Aug 1862 in the Endowment House.
