Mr. Allen died on Wednesday, Dec. 18th at the Skyland Care Center in Sylva, NC. He was a U.S. Army veteran, World War II, serving in Germany and France. He was a retired automotive mechanic with the North Carolina Department of Transportaiton & a member of the Liberty Baptist Church. He was predeceased by his parents, Lawrence & Hattie Allen. He is survived by his wife, Mae Louise Allen; son, Donald Ray Allen; daughter, Dorothea Siler, both of Cullowhee; sister, Ida Bryson of Sylva; three grandchildren, William Allen, Cory Siler, & Ikeda Allen; several nieces & nephews. Interment followed funeral services conducted on Saturday, December 21, 2002 at the AME Zion Church; Revs. Damita Wilder, Eddie Stillwell, & Adam West officiating. The Moody Funeral Home of Sylva assisted the family with the arrangements.
