Savannah Daily Advertiser, Savannah, A, 16 Nov 1871: Death of Mr. R. N. Stubbs

The announcement of the sudden death of Mr. Richard N. Stubbs, which occurred yesterday morning, cast a pall of sorrow over the hearts of a large host of friends of that gentleman in this city. On Saturday, he was seen upon the
streets, shaken by the hand, and today he is no more. The cause of his sudden demise was congestive fever of the worst type. His remains were last evening sent to Milledgeville, his former home, and were escorted to the depot by members of the Sabre Club, Savannah Cadets and the Georgia Chapter R. A. M., of each of which organizations the deceased was a member. At the time of his death he was in the employ of A. M. Sloan & Co., and, we learn, was about twenty-seven years of age.

Mr. Stubbs had been a resident of our city about four years, and had made many warm and strong friends. His genial, generous disposition, sterling manhood and
moral integrity won for him the respect, esteem, and affection of all who knew him. His loss will be keenly felt by a large circle of relatives and loving friends.
