At Butteville, on Tuesday morning, April 5, 1875, Mrs. Elizabeth Whitney, wife of William Whitney, aged 66 years, 8 months, and 10 days.
The deceased was born in Lincolnshire, England, July 26, 1808; married Sept. 3, 1827; emigrated to the United States in 1830; lived in New Jersey two years, then moved to Pennsylvania; lived there two years; from Pennsylvania removed to Indiana; remained there twelve years, and removed to Missouri in the fall of 1846; and in the spring of 1847 emigrated to Oregon, where they bought a farm, and having worked honestly and faithfully to raising and supporting a large family of nine children, to which they gave all a farm. They are also the grandparents of 35 children. Their last residence was in the town of Butteville, where they have a neat little property and living at their ease. She leaves a large circle of friends and relatives to mourn her loss.
