Modena born Monsignor Francesco Giberti was the son of a modest merchant. Of the eight children born to the couple Luigi and Gioia Vittoria and the eldest, that is the future bishops, and the youngest, Anna, survived. Entering seminary in his native city in October 1905, he was ordained priest on April 6, 1913 and was soon assigned to teach mathematics and physics at the local seminary. Appointed chaplain of the urban parish of San Francesco and confessor at the Institute of the Good Shepherd, in 1926 he was appointed treasurer of the Archbishopric Curia of Modena, an office which he held until May 31, 1935. Named canon of the Chapter of Modena on November 8, 1928, he was appointed spiritual director of the seminary of Modena on February 18, 1930. Becoming rector of the seminary in 1935 as well as director of an institute for deaf and dumb, on May 12, 1943 Giberti was elected Bishop of Fidenza, receiving his episcopal consecration of the following June 20 inside the Cathedral of Modena from Archbishop Cesare Boccoleri, assisted by Archbishop Mario Vianello and Bishop Vigilio Federico Dalla Zuanna OFM. Cap. On Saturday, September 11, privately and unknowingly of all, Giberti arrived in Fidenza by train accompanied by two priests.

Initiating his first pastoral visit on March 1 of the following year, on the next May 2 an air raid destroyed part of the bishop's residence and a few days later the seminary. The Bishop, along with many more displaced, moved to Bargone di Salsomaggiore, the summer resort of the seminary, where he carried the relics of Saint Donnino, patron saint of the diocese. Returning to live in the city amidst the rubble, adapting himself in the destroyed seminary, he lived there the remaining seven years of his life. will live in poverty for seven years until his death which occurred on February 19, 1952 at 61 years of age. An ascetic man, known for his particular modesty, charity and goodness, he remains particularly esteemed by the people of Fidenza such that his cause for beatification was introduced on March 4, 2007 by Bishop Maurizio Galli.
