Brooks Kyle Baucum passed away peacefully on May 15, 2016 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska due to natural causes. He was 77.
Brooks was born on August 10, 1938 in Zenda, Kansas. He was the third born of ten children to Earl & Lulu Belle Baucum. After graduating from Isabel High School Brooks moved to Pratt, Kansas and hired on with the Rock Island Railroad in 1957. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1961 and served six years as an Administrative Specialist and a Sharpshooter. He owned several businesses and worked as an Engineer until retirement in 2003.
Although he always worked hard to provide for his family, Brooks had several hobbies. He loved to fish, play cards, and was an avid golfer. He valued his friends greatly and was known to go to great lengths for a laugh. He was a strong-willed, fun-loving socialite that would do anything for those he loved. Most of all, Brooks was a loving son, brother, uncle, father, and grandfather.
Brooks is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Kyle and Julia Baucum of Scottsbluff, NE; his daughter, Brooke Ramirez; his brother, Doug Baucum; sisters, Janet Graven, Debbie Brocker, Patti Makovic, Teena Tilley, Leslie Miller, and Karen Llano; and six grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Earl and Lulu Belle; and his sisters, Patricia Hampton, and Nancy Baucum.
A memorial service will be held on May 27th at 10:00 a.m. at Larrison Mortuary in Pratt, KS with a graveside committal and military honors at Liberty Cemetery, Nashville, KS to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Brooks' life. Lunch and refreshments to follow.
