OBITUARY MRS.VIVIAN VIRGINIA WARD
Funeral services for Mrs. Vivian Virginia Ward, 58, wife of Willis H. Ward, 524 S. Wyandotte, and longtime employee of the Bartlesville Board of Education, will be held at 3 p.m. Friday in the Memory Chapel of the Arhold Moore Funeral residence.
The Rev. Deane K. Lierle of the First Christian Church will be the officiant and committal prayers and interment will be directed in the Ramona Cemetery by the Arnold Moore Funeral Service.
A native of Oklahoma, Mrs. Ward was born at Ramona on June 29, 1919, and received her elementary and high school education at Ramona, graduating with the Senior Class of 1937. She attended Oklahoma University and was later graduated from the Bartlesville Business College before joining the Philips Petroleum Company's gasoline department.
She was united in marriage on Dec. 10, 1938 to Willis Henry Ward and they established their first home at Ramona before moving to Bartlesville in 1943 when Ward began his employment with the City of Bartlesvile water department.
Mrs. Ward was secretary and assistant to Grover Harmon, Washington County Superintendent of Schools, for more than 17 years and when the jurisdiction of that department was assumed by the local school system, she was transferred to the offices of the Board of Education for the Bartlesville public school system.
Mrs. Ward died Wednesday in the Jane Phillips Building of the local medical center wher she had been a patient since Dec 20. She was a member of the First Christian Church and the Order of Eastern Star Chapter No. 142.
A memorial has been established in remembrance of Mrs. Ward in behalf of the American Cancer Society and friends who wish may forward their gifts to Lynn Caswell, in care of the First National Bank, Bartlesville.
In addition, to her husband of the home here, survivors include three sons, Maj. Dennis Ward of the U.S. Army at Ft. Sill, Karl Wayne Ward, 1908 Johnstone Place, and Curt Malcolm Ward, 117 N. Comanche; her mother, Mrs. Ruby Sherrick, Ramona, and five grandchildren.
Final rites and interment will be directed by the Arnold Moore Funeral Service.
