Julius F. Plunkett was the son of James L. Plunkett and Margaret (Purviance Plunkett. He was born in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. He married Mary “Polly” Scott on June 25, 1835, in Sangamon County, Illinois. They were living in Trenton, Iowa, in 1850 and in Marion, Iowa, in 1860, according to census records. They moved to Carrollton, Missouri, in 1868. He died on August 19, 1881, at the age of seventy-three years.
