Vernor O. Westrope, son of Otis Westrope and Sarah Ella Swinehart Westrope, was born June 14, 1894 in Lincoln Township, Adams County, Iowa. He passed away October 28, 1965, at the age of 71 years, 4 months, and 14 days at Lincoln, Nebraska.

Mr. Westrope was raised in the Lincoln Center community where he was united in marriage to Bessie J. Johannes, December 25, 1917. He and his family lived in this area until 1929 when they moved to Lincoln, Nebraska. While in Lincoln he ws engaged in the automotive business until his retirement in 1961.

Mr. Westrope is survived by his wife, Bessie, four children, Perry of Montclair, California; Merrill of Holdrege, Nebraska; Delores Bargman of Lincoln, Nebraska; and Margaret Newcomb of Clinton-Sherman AFB, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and an infant son.

A Prayer Service was held October 29, 1965 at Roper and Sons Chapel in Lincoln, Nebraska with the Rev. Nye Bond officiating. Further services were held at 2:00 p.m., October 30, 1965 at the Lincoln Center Methodist Church under the direction of the Rev. E. L. Sullivan. Music was by the Lincoln Center quartet. Roy Penfold, Verle Vogel, Don Drennan, and Kenneth Calkins. Accompanist was Katherine Kimpson.

Those serving as pallbearers were: Larry Johannes, Joe Maynes, Marvin Johnston, Leland Inman, Mervin Laire, and Maurice Kemp.

Interment was in the Lincoln Center Cemetery.
